About This Learning Experience
This learning environment was developed in partnership with Visit Greensboro and Learn Tourism®, a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing tourism through transformative, engaging, and accessible education.
Tourism is more than hotels, attractions, and events — it’s the way a community welcomes people into its story.
This learning experience was developed using the Learn Tourism approach to tourism education — a methodology rooted in adult learning science, instructional design, behavioral psychology, and real-world tourism expertise.
At Learn Tourism, we believe professional development should do more than simply deliver information. Effective education should help people feel confident, connected, and capable of applying what they’ve learned in meaningful ways.
That’s why our programs are built around three core principles:
Learning should create real-world impact. Participants should leave with new skills, greater confidence, and a deeper understanding of how they contribute to Greensboro’s visitor experience and community success.
People learn best when they actively participate in the experience. This program was intentionally designed to encourage interaction, reflection, storytelling, exploration, and practical application — not passive screen time or information overload.
Education should meet people where they are. The program is designed to be flexible, approachable, and inclusive for learners with different backgrounds, experiences, learning styles, schedules, and levels of tourism knowledge.
Behind the scenes, Learn Tourism applies research-backed methodologies in adult education, behavioral science, and instructional design to create learning experiences that resonate with tourism professionals, frontline staff, volunteers, and community members alike.
Unlike generic corporate training programs, this learning experience was built specifically for the tourism and hospitality industry. Every lesson, example, and activity is designed with the realities of visitor engagement, destination storytelling, hospitality, and community connection in mind.
In partnership with Visit Greensboro, this program helps create a stronger, more informed network of people who are prepared to welcome visitors with pride, empathy, and local insight — strengthening both the visitor experience and the Greensboro community itself.
